Puppies (up to when they’re 12 months old) require a little more protein to support their growing muscles and the right balance of calcium and phosphorus for developing bones and teeth. Burgess Sensitive Senior Food is ideal for golden oldies aged seven plus. It contains turkey, rice, essential vitamins, minerals and other beneficial ingredients such as glucosamine to support older bones and joints and sustain brain health. Food or dietary intolerance – This occurs when something in the food doesn’t agree with the animal’s body but does not trigger the immune system to react. For example, a dog may not be able to digest cow’s milk well.

Just as in people, an episode of flatulence (wind) or diarrhoea can be triggered in some dogs if their food doesn’t agree with them. This is known as having a ‘sensitive stomach’. Because your dog’s digestive system is crucial in making sure all the nutrients from their food can be absorbed and used, it is very important that they are fed sensitive dog food that can help support this, without making them ill. Dogs need a little bit of fibre in their diet to help maintain a healthy gut. Pea fibre and wholegrain cereals are examples of fibre you may find in standard dog food. For dogs with sensitive stomachs, Burgess Sensitive dog food excludes wheat and uses rice instead as an important and easily digestible source of carbohydrate and fibre. Composition: Rice, Lamb Meal (28.5%), Dried Beet Pulp (7.5%), Poultry Fat, Minerals, Poultry Gravy, Fish Oil (1%), Dried Alfalfa (1%), Chicory Root Extract (as a source of fruto-oligosaccharides (prebiotic FOS 0.1%), Yucca Schidigera (0.024%). Adult dogs (from one year) require foods that are naturally rich in protein for good muscle maintenance and essential fatty acids to help nourish their coat. Dogs also need a little bit of fibre in their diet to help maintain a healthy gut. Pea fibre and wholegrain cereals are examples of fibre you may find in your dog’s food. As well as fibre, small quantities of fish oil is great for your dog’s skin and coat condition.

All our dog foods are made at our own factory in the heart of Yorkshire, using only ingredients that meet our stringent specifications – locally sourced wherever possible to support British farmers.Food allergy or hypersensitivity – This occurs when a particular component of food (usually a protein) triggers the susceptible animal’s immune system to react, for example, cells may release histamine which causes itching. So, whether you’re looking for sensitive puppy food, sensitive food for adult dogs or sensitive food for senior dogs, remember that a dog’s nutritional needs vary throughout their life.

As omnivores, dogs naturally eat meat, grains and plant products. However, as the most common dietary allergens in dogs are beef, dairy and wheat, it follows that if your dog has a sensitive stomach, choosing a food that doesn’t contain any of these ingredients may be helpful.Food allergies and food intolerances are two different conditions which often have similar symptoms. While they are both examples of adverse food reactions, food allergies involve the animal’s immune system while food intolerances do not. Kibble can be made via two manufacturing processes – either by cold-pressed extrusion, or thermal extrusion. Cold pressed kibble or nuggets are made at lower temperatures using high pressure to bind the ingredients together. Nuggets made via thermal extrusion are cooked at higher temperatures. Got a question about dry dog food nutrition , high protein dog food or high fibre dog food ? To help you understand more about what to consider when choosing premium kibble, we’ve put together some really useful answers from our nutrition team at Burgess, the pet care experts . At Burgess, all of our kibble for dogs is made using thermal extrusion. The process involves grinding down a range of quality ingredients into a fine flour and mixing them together. Your dog should get everything they need from their food – and a high quality, complete dry dog food , such as kibble, will provide this. How is kibble dog food made?
