Listen to the slightly pricier, Award-winning Cambridge Audio Melomania 1 and, in comparison, there’s an extra ounce of detail and finesse over the Earfun Air Pro across the frequencies. But without noise cancelling, USB-C charging or in-ear detection, and taking their higher price tag into account, it’s an altogether different proposition. Your ears are on the large side: There's every chance these lovely little units might even be toosmall for you. To test the Earfun Air’s low-end reach, we play Stormzy’s Big Michael, and the bass is enthusiastic, energetic and accurate. While the dynamic build is marginally less pronounced than through our control headphones, the Cambridge Audio Melomania 1, the latter set is almost twice as expensive. And remember, those in-ears don’t feature wearer detection and aren’t water-resistant. The earbuds operate on a Bluetooth 5.2 connection, and at the time of the review, that’s the latest version. The TrueWireless mirroring tech grants the opportunity to listen to audio and take calls with both earbuds or just a single one. With aptX, AAC and SBC codecs supported, the EarFun cater to both Android or iOS devices. EarFun estimates the battery life to be roughly 6 hours, with an extra 24 hours in the battery case. That's a little better than average for the true wireless field, and impressive considering the price, but remember that your results will vary with your volume levels. The charging case uses USB-C, and can also charge wirelessly on a Qi pad.

The design of the EarFun Free 2 carries over from the original, which means they’re a thoroughly plastic affair. At this asking price that isn’t an unexpected development. This little-known company has produced a comfortable, nicely built set of headphones that also boast excellent battery life, wireless charging support and an expansive listen. If you’re after something inexpensive that’ll sound good on the treadmill, the Earfun Air buds are simply some of the best cheap wireless headphones you can buy. They use shallow fit silicone tips with a flange and could probably accomodate the misodiko/ikko foams amongst others. The provided silicones are very thin, yet I was able to get a good seal -a task I often have difficulty with- that had them secure enough in my head to stay seated through some headbanging roleplay. Given the shallow fit, they are not the most passively isolating earbuds and I would recommend foams mentioned above if that is a concern. The buds are quiet as a mouse while on standby / in quiet sections of music, probably the quietest among the handfull of bluetooth earbuds I have at hand. They don't have noticeable delay with either device (20ms-ish on youtube), and support AAC/SBC codecs. The EarFun true wireless buds take shape of something we’re all known with: Apple’s Air Pods. This is due to the stem look that’s becoming commonplace on TWS buds. When looking at the stems you will notice Ear Fun Air has their branding towards the bottom. Their lower frequencies will grant fun and exciting listening sessions for users who like a bassy profile on their headphones.

The EarFun Free 2 offers a good array of features that open them up for use for various purposes. Are you a keen gym and fitness fanatic? Along with their solid fit, the Free 2 offer IPX7 resistance, which means they’re fully waterproof and should happily survive any encounters with rain and sweat. As far as function goes, this is also pretty standard for some wireless earbuds with touch controls. The touch controls include: The JLab Go Air Pop are an incredibly accomplished pair of buds considering how cheap they are. Connectivity was instant and reliable throughout our testing, we also liked the simple on-ear volume controls. There's a mic in each earbud for call-handling, and you'll get basic EQ profiles too – triple tap either earpiece and you’ll hear the soothing voice say “balanced’, “bass boost” or “JLab signature”. Higher mids share a similar non-forward style but get less affected by mid-bass bleed effects, resulting in a pleasant but not necessarily busy upper midrange response. The good level of noise cancelling is thanks in part to the six-mic array (three per bud), which also ensures clear voice calls in our tests. Battery life is good too, with a claimed total of 25 hours with ANC on (seven from the buds plus 18 hours from the case) or 32 hours with it off. The EarFun Air is a single driver headphone. Which means that the EarFun Air has 1 driver per side. What type of headphone is the EarFun Air? Due to this tuning, the EarFun Air will be able to grant highs that can be listened for long time without getting annoyingly sibilant/piercing but neither being overly muddy nor dark. The EarFun Air Pro permits you can use either left or right earbuds independently. So, easy you can use both or one of the earbuds for listening to music. But, something may be inconvenient due to the controlling functions on each earbud are different. So, if you use one earbud some features you cannot use because you have to use the other side of the earbuds for this feature. Touch control

Earfun Air review | What Hi-Fi?

During our testing, the sound presentation is well-balanced, relatively transparent, taut and full through the bass, and musically pleasing overall. Verdict The earphones use Bluetooth 5.0 and supports AAC and SBC Bluetooth codecs. There's no support for AptX. Performance The mic offers average intelligibility. Using the Voice Memos app on an iPhone 8, we could understand every word we recorded, but there was the typical Bluetooth distortion around the edges (perhaps a bit more than usual), and the mic sounded a little distant. It should be fine for phone calls when you have a decent signal, however, and this is par for the course with true wireless in-ear mics. Conclusions These inexpensive earbuds should be on your list – and not on looks alone. These buds sound more expansive and are generally better than anything else you can buy for this money. Perhaps the only indication that we’re dealing with a sub-three-figure set of in-ears here is the battery light display on the case. It features just one little LED to denote the amount of juice remaining. The solution is a good one though; when the case is opened, the light glows green when it has more than 30 per cent battery, orange when it’s below 30 per cent, and red at 10 per cent. It flashes red when you’re nearly out of juice and need to charge.

Overall, I do love how the TW200 wireless earbuds sound when it comes to listening or watching some shows or movies. EarFun Air Wireless Earbuds – Fit and Comfort Despite the very relaxed midrange tuning, the EarFun Air presents a much more cleaner highs and treble response. Listening to music like Foo Fighters' All My Life sounds suitably punchy and enthusiastic. Alternatively, something like David Bowie's Under Pressure sounds suitably crisp. Every word of Eminem's My Name Is is clear and potent no matter how fast it gets. The weakness here? Trebles are a touch muddled, and nothing is quite as revolutionary as with more expensive buds – spending a little more on the Cambridge Audio Melomania 1 Plus will open up more from your music, no question.
