Description

Unlike a mattress protector, which is a thin fabric covering that simply adds an extra layer of protection to your mattress, a mattress topper is a much more robust affair. Usually measuring at least 5cm deep, it's a substantial layer that can be placed over the top of your existing mattress to add comfort and support. In addition to the standard model, ViscoSoft offers two other versions of the topper with special components. One of these toppers is infused with lavender for a calming scent intended to help you relax before falling asleep. The other contains active charcoal for extra cooling. The jury is split on the topper's breathability claims, with one tester finding they slept cooler, but other self-described 'hot sleepers' saying they didn't notice much relief. However, the antislip base and straps are well worth a mention. Most mattress toppers are attached by straps, but in our experience, they're prone to pinging off. The Simba Hybrid Topper straps stayed firm in our testing, but even if they hadn't, the topper was going nowhere thanks to its anti-slip base. In the late 1980s and 1990s, with the expansion of children's television and video games taking a greater share of children's time, sales of comics began to fall. So D. C. Thomson decided to modernise the Topper, relaunching it as Topper '89 from February 1989. Unlike most other comics at the time, which were half tabloid size, the Topper was for many years full tabloid. It changed to A4 in 1980, one year before The Beezer.

In 2017, the Toppers received a Special Achievement Award, selling more than 1.5 million copies of Toppers in Concert (CD + DVD). During the 2018 edition, they broke the world record in Canon Singing with 198.000 spectators during three concerts. [ citation needed] Toppers in Concert [ edit ] Johan Cruyff Arena

The best mattress toppers to buy in 2023

A cooling mattress topper can be especially useful to add to a memory foam mattress during the summer. By design memory foam is reactive to heat, moulding around the body as it warms up to offer cushioning support. However, in a heatwave, that cocooning 'hug' can get all too hot, and one of the best cooling mattress toppers will add a welcome barrier or 'breaker' to allow air in and cool things down. How can I make my bed colder? Even the very best cooling mattress toppers aren't going to actively cool down your sleep surface and make it feel like climbing into a fridge – and who hasn't considered that solution on a far-too-hot night mid-heatwave?! (NB. This definitely isn't recommended). Vintage stories from the Topper appeared alongside stories from other D. C. Thomson publications in Classics from the Comics, a compilation magazine series which ran from 1996 to 2010. The Birch Mattress Topper is made from Talalay latex from sustainable rubber tree farms. The topper also contains a cover made of organic cotton and a top layer of natural wool, which regulates surface temperatures and acts as a fire barrier. These luxurious materials make the Birch Mattress Topper very eco-friendly, giving you extra peace of mind as a consumer. Upgrade your mattress to one filled with natural materials. Avoiding synthetics like memory foam and opting for a mattress filled with wool or cotton can help to add breathability to your sleep setup if you're a hot sleeper, prone to night sweats, or live in a hot and humid climate.

Though we’ve called this a “cooling mattress topper”, no topper will work to actively cool you down throughout the night. But as silk can help to regulate body temperature, it’s a better option than memory foam for those who get too hot during the night. We like the fact that this topper also has an added bottom chamber that’s filled with a generous layer of gently supportive microfibre – the upshot of which is that it’s much comfier than many of the thinner pure silk toppers available. The elastic straps keep it firmly in place, too. And as you are much less likely to perspire when sleeping on silk, the silk filling remains free from dust mites – great for allergy sufferers, who will also be pleased to learn that silk is naturally hypoallergenic. Regardless, if you’re looking for an affordable topper with a lengthy trial period and an eight-year guarantee, then the Dormeo Octasmart Essentials is a smart choice. It's a great choice for those looking to upgrade a mattress that has started to sag or lose structure, or for adding proper support and cushioning to a sofa bed. The memory foam upper will also help to add cushioning to a firmer mattress and reduce motion transfer between sleeping partners. This generous depth provides ample cushioning but doesn’t ever make you feel like you’re sinking too far into the bed. What’s more, mesh walls around the sides of the topper help to improve airflow and ensure you remain cool, even if you happen to share your bed with a human radiator. The selling point of this memory foam mattress topper from Emma is that it’s double-sided, offering a firmer side and a softer side. In truth, while this does allow for some versatility, there isn’t a great deal of difference between the two – and it’s particularly important to bear in mind that, as we said in our buying guide, putting any topper on your mattress is only going to make it feel softer.

Below, we’ll take an in-depth look at the pros and cons of different mattress materials, explore the various benefits of using a topper, and answer a few frequently asked questions about these products. What to Consider When Purchasing a Mattress Topper

Temperature control was one testing area where the topper excelled. We’ve attributed this to steady airflow through the coil layer and the cooling, heat-dissipating cover. Motion isolation and pressure relief are other defining strengths. Since the topper does not have corner straps to secure it to your mattress, you may notice some shifting during position changes. Adding a layer of comfort is the main criteria, but beyond that how can you choose your mattress topper? Opting for one of the best cooling mattress toppers on the market means that you'll be adding an extra layer of comfort as well as breathability to your mattress. Care: Look for mattress toppers that can be popped in the washing machine at 40˚C, or at least have removable outer covers. Especially if you're prone to allergies, this makes caring for you mattress a much easier experience. FAQs Are mattress toppers worth having? The best mattress toppers to buy in 2023 1. Panda Memory Foam Bamboo Mattress Topper: The best-value memory foam topper

This comic (and its strips) provide examples of:

Filling is the next most important thing to think about, and there are quite a few options out there to choose from: In September 2016, Jan Smit stated he was interested in joining the group. A few hours later, van der Boom posted a video on Facebook [2] of himself and Joling "auditioning" to join the band. Smit's addition was formally announced on February 21, 2017. [3]

Saatva offers a lineup of mattress toppers, each with unique strengths. Our tests show that the Graphite Mattress Topper excels at pressure relief thanks to the close contouring, making this an ideal topper for sleepers who experience pressure buildup or simply enjoy the “hugging” feel of foam. Whether you opt for a cooling mattress topper or protector, we'd recommend looking for natural materials like wool and cotton. These are particularly useful for adding breathability to a synthetic or memory foam mattress and are generally the more eco-friendly option compared with synthetic mattress toppers. FAQs Do cooling mattress toppers really work? A few other familiar benefits that come with the topper are a machine washable cover and a 100-night trial period that gives you plenty of time to try the topper out before you decide whether or not you want to commit to it. What’s more, thanks to Emma’s regular promotional sales, you will rarely have to pay full price for it. If it's a soft and comfortable layer of padding that you're after, choose a feather or down mattress topper. It will be cooler than memory foam and is a good choice for front sleepers, but can be pricey and you'll need to fluff it up regularly. The purpose of a topper is to improve how your mattress feels. As cushioning materials deteriorate and soften over time, the surface of a mattress will become uneven from body impressions and indentations. This can decrease support and lead to aches and pains. Most toppers have soft to medium feels, and are intended to add cushioning to a firm mattress. However, some toppers are on the firmer side and meant for mattresses that feel overly soft.
