What else should you throw on this thing? Lascannons is definitely a decent shout, especially if you just want to make a single vehicle die every turn. If you want to do this, consider throwing a multi-melta on the pintle as well. Otherwise, keep it cheap and cheerful with Heavy Bolters or Autocannons. This hefty box also contains a Special Weapons Upgrade Set, a Land Raider Proteus , and a Deredeo Dreadnought to provide blistering heavy support to your Legion. The spartan doesn’t have a ton of options. It always has lascannon sponsons, so adding another to the hull mount isn’t tremendously worth it. Instead, adding both hull and pintle mounted heavy bolters gives it a bit of useful anti-infantry firepower, and as they’re defensive weapons they’ll be able to fire at a different target than the lascannons. There’s also a range of pintle-mounted combi-weapons, and more equipment than you can shake a mechandendrite at – including a frankly terrifying dozer blade. It will also have rules for use in Warhammer 40,000. Deimos Pattern Rhino

This is a challenging, yet extremely rewarding kit. Veteran builders will have an absolute field day with this one. The Miniatures – Round-UpI particularly like how in-keeping with the idea of the evolution of the Dreadnought this model is. The 80s sci-fi echo in its design gives the sense model is a progenitor, whilst not being so removed from the Warhammer 40,000 Dreadnoughts of the last ten years to seem like a different unit. It’s like a walking piece of archaeology, like putting a steam locomotive with a neutrino bomb strapped to it next to a Primaris bullet train. Graviton Cannon: The most expensive option and an interesting one. Haywire can be very good, and the other special rules are great, but it being one shot with Blast means you’re not going to be getting many hits through on a vehicle and vehicles rarely bunch up enough to hit multiple with one blast. It’s pretty good at what it does, but there are better options. Some say that when they were first forged, they were white in colour, and that they grow redder and redder for every drop of blood they shed. They have not been seen for many years, and many thought them gone forever. This sprue in particular is extremely versatile. If you wish to go a bit off-piste and do your own thing, don’t be afraid to. in fact when sergeant, the guide actually sees you cut the tabs off the model so that you can orient the arms how you wish. The Miniatures There’s a great variety of accessories available: weapon holsters, grenades, pouches, scrolls, breather masks, and scanners to name a few. You also have the option to equip some of the miniatures with banners or communications units, should you so wish.

In terms of hitting power, the Kratos sits between the Sicarian and Fellblade , armed with a massive battlecannon, a volkite cardanelle, or a melta blast-gun – in other words, your choice of huge weapon to kill whichever type of unit might give the rest of your army problems. But what do these three new guns do? Aiolos Missile Launcher: An interesting choice for anti-infantry (pinning is great) and certainly worth considering as an add to a plasma cannonade deredeo. In other circumstances it’s probably not worth the points. The army list section has a lot of detail in it, with datasheets for all the units, as well as further weapons information for some of the units. Though the average gw-hater will likely whine “look at this upsell”. For those new to HH (the primary target audience here), It’s a rudimentary but very useful resource to have, and will enable gamers to get playing with their new miniatures the moment they’re built. WargearMelta Blast-Gun: Now we’re talking. 36″ range, so you’re getting armourbane only 6″ closer than the Flashburn Shells, and it’s a vicious 4 shots with enough Strength to cause Instant Death. This basically doesn’t have a bad choice of target other than maybe speeders and aircraft – pump four shots into a vehicle in melta range and you’ve got a good chance of totalling it no matter what it is. Pump four shots into infantry and that’s probably a few dead guys even if they have invulnerable saves and multiple wounds. It’s cheaper than taking Flashburn shells and it’s better. If you want to maximise the output of the Kratos, this is the main gun for you. When I first received the Age of Darkness box, I naively assumed that the Spartan would be of similar size to a Land Raider. I was, however, very wrong. This thing is massive. This isn’t true. There are so many heads, shoulders, and other extras available, that you’re unlikely to end up with two of the same figure.
