When you’ve decided how many cups you want, you’ll need to tell the machine which filter you’ve used. The display will show ‘basket’ or ‘cone’. You should rotate the ‘select’ dial to show the correct basket and then press it to set. Don’t forget to ensure you’ve filled the water tank! While the Breville Precision Brewer may not be as expensive as the Technivorm Moccamaster KBGV Select, it's still not a budget machine. But if you frequent coffee shops daily, you could eventually save money in the long run by opting to make your own drinks at home with the Breville – and thanks to its plethora of customization settings, your coffee will be just the way you want it, every time.

Our coffee connoisseur Louise Woffindin takes this mid range coffee machine for a spin in our Sage Precision Brewer review. Find out how she got on with it below… The Oracle Touch sits at the very top of the range but we have not included it in our recommendations because in our opinion it is just too expensive for what you get. Brewing with hot water will make your coffee taste full-bodied, whereas cooler temperatures will make for a lighter brew. Going too cold will make your coffee taste underdeveloped and too hot will give it that ‘burnt’ taste. So, by playing with your brew temperature settings, you can find the right temp to hit the spot.We first decided to brew a full 1.8-litre carafe. After all, when brewing a large amount of coffee, it’s often hard to get right, so we wanted to test this first. As per the manufacturer’s instructions, we used 12 level scoops with the Sage scoop, which equated to 99g. This works out at 1 coffee scoop per 150ml of coffee produced. Sage has a coffee-water ratio guide in the manual, which is handy. Grinding and tamping are very important if you want to produce the best possible coffee. Bean to cup coffee machines do a good job but not as good as using manual intervention in the right way which is why the coffee shops do it that way.

Empty out the cone filter basket after each brew by turning the left-facing handle on the bottom of the brewer to release. 2. Clean the cone filter From there it steps up to The Bambino Plus. As well as the features of The Duo Temp Pro you also get to choose from 3 temperatures for your milk. Just place the jug underneath the steam wand and it will automatically stop when that temperature is reached. One button starts the coffee delivery and it will stop automatically. If you think of coffee as a science, the Breville Precision Brewer will make the perfect chemistry kit. With the ability to customize everything from bloom time to water flow, it'd be impossible to not eventually stumble upon that winning combination of variables that culminates in your ideal cup of coffee. Keep an eye out for any build-up of oils or coffee residue on the inside of the machine itself. If you notice any, carefully remove it with a soft cloth and mild detergent. Be sure not to use anything abrasive that could scratch the surface of your Sage machine. You want cafe-quality coffee at the touch of a button – The Oxo On Barista Brain pairs the quality of a perfect pour over with the convenience of a drip coffee machine. It’s also significantly less expensive than the Sage Precision Brewer and one of the best-looking coffee makers out there. Each one are specialists in their own segment of the coffee machine market so the one that you ultimately go for will depend on what your own personal preferences are and how much you are willing to pay for a home espresso machine. Wipe down the body of the machine with a damp cloth, taking care not to get any water into the internal components of your Sage Dynamic Duo as this may damage them. Allow it to dry before plugging it in again. 3. Clean the brush heads It performs in the same way as a professional machine in a coffee shop. As the name suggests it has two boilers so you can steam your milk at the same time as you deliver your espresso and with two separate high-quality pumps you will be delivering café quality coffee for years to come with this machine.

Like all products from the Sage brand, we found the Precision Brewer was very well-built. We thought it was both robust and strong, and worth its value in this regard. This does mean that it’s heavy, but it’s not the sort of thing you will lift a lot, so this didn’t put us off.

Using The Sage Precision Brewer

In our testing, we used whole bean coffee that we ground just before use. The ideal grind was medium to coarse. If you use espresso coffee, you might find the coffee basket overflows. We must warn you, though. It’s quite big and heavy (4.8 kg). Its body (measuring 36 x 16.8 x 39.5 cm) might not fit on every countertop, so make sure that you have enough room underneath your cupboards. Features – 5/5
