Mad-Eye crawled his way to Tonks side after she was injured duelling Bellatrix Lestrange in the Department of Mysteries. He crawled to her side despite having been injured by Antonin Dolohov. Tonks was devastated by Moody's death in 1997 and was seen crying.

Professor Moody emerges from a classroom near to the Charms corridor just after Harry tells Cedric about the dragons. He tells Harry to come to his office, and closes the door behind them. He watches Harry closely as the boy looks around his office, and tells him about the Dark Detectors he keeps in there. Moody tells Harry that he doesn't want to play favourites but that he wants to give Harry some general advice. He encourages Harry to play to his strengths, reminding Harry that he is an excellent flier. He gives one other piece of advice to Harry: he needs to use a nice, simple spell to get what he needs. Moody doesn't directly tell Harry anything, but he encourages him to put the two pieces of advice together to figure out what he needs for the first task. Herbology: As an Auror, Moody was skilled in Herbology, as he had to have received at least an Exceeds Expectations in his O.W.L. and N.E.W.T. for this subject. [45] Crouch Jnr's father, as a high-ranking Ministry official, spent his entire life dedicated to eradicating the Dark forces, and as such, didn't pay enough attention to his own son. When Crouch Jnr was caught with other Death Eaters at the crime scene of torture of Alice and Frank Longbottom to insanity, his father's parental affection extended to as much as giving him a trial, something he did not always give other suspects. In the end, the trial was merely to make an example out of his own son, and to publicly disown him, making clear he had nothing to do with anyone who would even remotely be connected to the committing of such a horrible crime. Crouch Snr mercilessly sentenced his own son to Azkaban for life.He also speaks with Gleeson's natural Irish accent, although his nationality appears to be Scottish, seeing as his impostor wears a kilt in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire during the Yule Ball. His nationality is never identified in the book, although Moody is a surname common in both Ireland and Scotland, while Alastor (sometimes spelt Alistair) is a Scottish first name. Though Harry bears a great resemblance to his father, it is often noted that he has Lily's eyes. Dumbledore has said that Harry's deepest nature is much more similar to his mother's. [26] In a 1999 interview, Rowling stated that "he has his mother's eyes, and that's very important in a future book". [27] That future book was Deathly Hallows. In Snape's death scene in that novel, after having passed on his memories to Harry, he whispers to Harry: "Look... at... me..." In one of Snape's memories, it is revealed that Dumbledore persuades Snape to protect Harry after Lily's death by mentioning the fact that he has "precisely" the same eyes as his mother. His last words to Harry were simply a desire to see Lily's eyes before he died.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, Year 7, Chapter 35 ( The Auror Programme) - Assignment "Poltergeist Problems" All the while, Crouch did his part in Voldemort's plan. Moody's life was spared due to Crouch needing his hair to create the Polyjuice Potion, and wanting to question Moody for his behaviour, patterns and such, so Crouch could successfully imitate him, all the while keeping Moody captive under the Imperius Curse. [15]Dumbledore reveals that Moody is the new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher. Moody seems totally indifferent to the lukewarm reception he receives. He reaches into his travelling cloak and pulls out a hip-flask and takes a long drink from it. When he lifts his arm to drink his cloak is pulled a few inches from the ground, revealing several inches of carved wooden leg, ending in a clawed foot. Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, Year 7, Chapter 5 ( The Ministry of Magic) - Assignment "The Rogue Alchemist"

His wand was out and it was pointing right at a pure white ferret, which was shivering on the stone-flagged floor, exactly where Malfoy had been standing." — Barty having turned Draco into a ferret [src] The Noble Collection also made a replica of Alastor's wand, as seen in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.Vance was killed by Death Eaters in 1996, while Podmore was imprisoned in Azkaban for attempting to open the door of the Department of Mysteries. Moody didn't know it and was angry with Podmore, because he had taken his Invisibility Cloak. Crouch thought that killing Harry would please Voldemort. In fact, Voldemort would have been furious, since he repeatedly stated that only he would kill Harry. He was also friendly with Hermione Granger. Hermione and Moody fought at several battles together, but, when Moody was killed, Hermione was devastated.
