About this deal

There is not much in the way of new insight in this book – the United way means being hard working, never complacent, and not knowing when you’re beaten. Scott McTominay reveals the BRUTAL advice Jose Mourinho gave him during his first Manchester Utd training session. There are moments in “Red”, Gary Neville’s autobiography, when you are reminded what an absolutely extraordinary career he, his brother and – as he never fails to refer to them – “Butty, Becks, Giggsy and Scholesey” had together.

This book sheds a light on the teams during that period, as well as providing a bit more detail on some of the more ‘controversial’ issues Neville was involved in during his career. Out of 160 kids at that trial I was selected as 1 of 16 to be part of the Manchester United Centre of Excellence.

The People's Game is a passionate, personal and critical account of how football lost its soul, and what we can do to get it back. If I’d played 85 times for my country, I’d probably devote a fair chunk of my career memoirs to it, but there are few surprises in his recanting of his time with the national team. The European Super League, which looked to eradicate competition in favour of guaranteed profits, was just the beginning.

Marcus Rashford arrives at Man United's training ground with his agent brother to face the music with Erik. He provides a fun romp through good times and bad (not much) at ManU and with England (not much fun there), and his reverence for 'the manager' is certainly one consistent throughout. Including stories from his playing career and insight into some of the biggest footballing decisions in recent history this is a birds-eye view of the game today and how the landscape has changed over the years. I only bought this book because my late brother was Gary Neville's first sports teacher and there is a photo of him in the book.

Interesting that both Gary and Phil went from junior school straight into United's Centre of Excellence. It was originally released in September last year and i said at the time that football had sleepwalked into a mess and that’s only become more evident since on issues like the need for an independent regulator and ownership models and financing! The things I didn't like about the book was that at places, the stories were kept short specially about his later part of his career. How he pushed and pushed and pushed, how he strived to be the very best and how he just wanted to be a footballer.

These are emotions – the highs and lows of supporterdom – with which all Manchester United fans can identify.Marcus Rashford is 'out of control' and 'has NO respect' for Erik ten Hag or his Man United team-mates,.
