Regular readers of my test reports know I prefer to audition new products in my listening room instead of in a car. Featuring a tweeter and a passive crossover, the JBL GTO629 ensures that sound is properly balanced and delivered to the listener. And better performance makes the speakers an ideal replacement for factory speakers as well as for any aftermarket speaker installation. The missing high frequencies are also confirmed by a small but significant drop in output between eight and 12 kHz as alluded to in my listening evaluations.

The speakers are really good but if you have factory bose system I would highly recommend installing an aftermarket amp. JBL engineers designed the GTO 629 coaxial speaker to produce strong, clear sound from a head-unit or amplifier capable of delivering up to 180 watts of power. Having the speaker resistance slightly under the amps minimum rating is going to be pushing the amp a little harder, but it WILL give you extra volume.
