About this deal

Finally the Iguana Blue AL Sport has by far the smoothest nib, though with the same level of ink flow as the other loan pen. With the hexagonal cap posted on the end of the pen, the AL Sport is perfectly balanced and designed to provide a remarkably smooth writing experience. The Classic Sport range, introduced to market in 1934, broke new ground in modern design for its unique octagonal barrel and handy portable size intended for use by ‘ladies, officers and sportspeople’. Fountain pens feature a stainless steel nib from extra fine to broad, whilst the pencil is available as a push pencil with 0. Lacquered pens tend to engrave with a brass finish, whilst chrome pens with a subtle two tone effect (check preview on every product page).

Originally established in 1899 in Heidelberg (also home of Lamy), the company was eventually renamed Kaweco as its owners namesake, Henrich Koch and Rudolph Weber - KOch, WEber and COmpany. Kaweco, founded as Heidelberger Federhalterfabrik in 1883, began producing pocket fountain pens in 1912. While the 060 may look like it is a size 4, it is actually size 5 as the collar diameter (and the width of the nib where it sits in the collar) is 5mm.Mirrored on the design of the Classic Sport, the AL Sport combines durable aluminium with Kawecos' signature simplicity, ensuring this pen will never go out of style. The AL Sport closely follows an original 1935 octagonal design - 'Small in the pocket, large in the hand'. Sure much if not all, of his work has now been debunked, but too many of us look at limited edition releases of pens and go all Pokemon, have to catch (collect) them all, and boy are the big makers aware of this. In the hand there is a big difference in the feel of quality between the aluminium AL Sport and the regular plastic models.

Kaweco are no strangers to this, however limit things (normally) to just their basic Sport and AL Sport models. With Kaweco COLLECTION, Kaweco can explore new colour combinations without the need to conform to the look of a particular series. I think they are a great range of pens with lots of variety, but for me personally are just a little bit too thin. Known for their robust and high-end build specifications, a Kaweco pen will be a long-lasting addition to any fountain pen fan's collection. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. The Kaweco AL Sport Gold Edition is shadow engraved, which means that the pen is engraved before anodising. The modern Kaweco Sport pen is a workhorse: it's pocket-sized, durably built, and (generally) affordable enough that you aren't overly worried to stuff it in your pocket and take it on the road with you for work, travel, or just knocking around town. The raw aesthetics of this AL Sport fountain pen are produced from a full body of unlacquered anodized aluminium with a polished finish, giving the pen a beautiful metallic appearance. You will probably still have to pay some form of import duty to your local tax authorities when your parcel arrives. While I did not receive all the packaging, the AL Sport arrived in an Eco Velour One Sport Pen pouch. In the ensuing 125 years, the company continued to grow and today stand as one of Europe's premier fountain pen producers. Was damals noch aus Silber oder vergoldetem Messing gemacht wurde, wird heute aus dem Metall Aluminium hergestellt.

You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Small in the pocket, large in the hand', the oversized cap arrangement creates a small closed pen but a full length open pen. Note if you look at the Kaweco Collection web page you will see more/different pens as some historical are shown and some are 2023 models. Established in 1883 by founders Luce and Ensslen, the Heidelberger Federhalterfabrik (dip pen factory) began manufacturing dip pens.

Kaweco traces its history way back to 1883 and the first popular Kaweco Sport fountain pen was created in 1911. Still there appears to be no difference in cost between nib units and replacement sections with nibs fitted. We use a premium silver giftwrap paper with a subtle two-tone patterned effect, and a hand tied silver ribbon. Measuring only 105mm when capped and 130mm long when the cap is mounted on top of the barrel; this pen is the perfect pocket companion. Under a loupe all is fine and it has been this way since first inked (I always properly rinse manufacturing detritus out of my pens).
