In 1999, a Lego Pirates-themed land was introduced to Legoland California, based on the Lego Pirates toy theme. Wouldn't make much sense for a French governor to appear alongside British troops without a highly ranking officer or dignitary present. Another stange element of this set is that it does not come with instructions, I know they are not really needed, but still all the other impulse sets came with instructions so why not this one? Prior to the launch of Lego Pirates, minifigures were distinguished in function and organization by their torso, headgear (either a helmet or hair), and accessories, being generic roles without any specified character.

It is part of a multipack but that just means you get good value for money, If only I could have bought some. This year gave the pirates great variety on the waves, they now had the choice to sail in three ships, and at this point the balance of favour has tipped towards the pirates. The Black Seas Barracuda was also the inspiration for the 30th Lego Ideas set 21322 Pirates of Barracuda Bay, released in 2020, which can be built either as a pirate shipwreck on an island or the pirate ship due to its modular design. To balance the scene I supplemented a lot of other blue bodies, and either turned them upside down or the one's that were piratey I made them artillery soldiers or just plain corpses.

Additional trademarks of the captain are the skull and crossed bones on his bicorne, his distinctive gold-trimmed black frock coat and green jabot, and a colorful tropical parrot named Popsy. Still if you were lucky enough to own the large island baseplate from Forbidden Island 6270 and about three of these sets, you could make a brilliant pirate village as the actual shanty in this set looks very nice.

To offset this the British government quickly hired contingents of German auxiliaries alongside the regular army units in campaigns from 1776.Redbeard Runner's crew consists of: Black Jack Hawkins, George, Jake the Snake Blake, Gonzo Goldbar, Parma Sean LaFeet and Tattoo McGoo.

Where this set falls down is in the minifig department, whilst the old clipper had a perfect complement of three sailors and one commander, this ship features one pirate (or is it a sailor I can’t tell) one soldier (to shot pirates) one officer (to boss around the soldier) and one commander (to command).

Do I make them Lieutenants, or if LEGO permits, with more Redcoats to come out (I hope, given the measly two redcoast thus far) perhaps they should be my privates and the older redcoats my officers. Secondly, if you look at the British and French uniforms, you'll note the French uniform differ from the English Naval uniform and in my opinion the bluecoat minifigures more closely resemble the British Navy. but another nation would add a new range of possibilities such as alliances or new wars to be fought. All of our custom LEGO® accessories are produced in high quality ABS plastic - the same plastic used by LEGO®.
