About this deal

I bought this CD as members of my family had recently watched Mama Mia the movie and one of my daughters liked a few songs that were not on Abba gold V(1)such as "I do, I do " and " Last Summer " and they were on Abba Gold Vol(2). Music critic Elisabeth Vincentelli ( New York Post; Time Out New York) credits the album for a revival of critical interest in ABBA's music after ten years of neglect following the band's 1982 break-up. Polydor got lucky since a second wave of interest in ABBA was occuring right when they released the collection. Voyage was preceded by the release of two singles, one of which - Don't Shut Me Down - landed at Number 9, giving ABBA their first Top 10 hit on the Official Singles Chart since 1982.

I think that by this time in their history both marriages had split up, and the music became much richer and more personal. As a kid, one of the very few "rock" albums my parents had was a cassette copy of Greatest Hits on side one of the tape and Greatest Hits Volume 2 on side two of the tape. Released in 1993, it was the follow-up to the highly successful ABBA Gold, released the previous year, and went on to sell 3 million copies. Rather than issue the multiple previous compilations, PolyGram put together a new collection, optimised for the CD format.Several years back, I wound up purchasing all of ABBA's studio albums on CD and the first thing I did was recreate that cassette by making myself a 2 CD-R set containing Greatest Hits on one disc and Greatest Hits Volume 2 on the other. The album spent 61 (non-consecutive) weeks in the top 10 and topped the British chart 5 times, most recently for two weeks in 2008 following release of the motion picture Mamma Mia! Join us each week as we navigate the dance between past and present, weaving a narrative of hope, empowerment, and the unyielding strength that defines the journey to reclaim 'Native Land. These were included here as well as some of ABBA's lesser-known hits from the time when their popularity was declining, such as " Head over Heels" and " The Day Before You Came. Chiquitita is really sweet, cut off the thumping piano at the end (so they simply sing "Sing a new song Chiquitita") and it would be perfect. Please presume that any reference to a digital copy/UV copy will not be applicable, as these are used items. I own this release and I probably shouldn't be saying this, but I really can't see the reason for the high value - the volume is somewhat low and the overall sound is a bit flat, nothing like ABBA Gold. Pleasing to fans was the inclusion of non-album B-sides ‘Lovelight’ and ‘Cassandra’, which at the time were hard to find on CD. It also has a couple of their better non-album b-sides ("Lovelight", "I Wonder (Departure)") as well as an unreleased track ("I Am the City").When All Is Said And Done' a single in some countries also deserved much more exposure as it is in my books on a par with 'The Winner Takes It All'. Erasure had released a 4 track ABBA cover EP, Abba-esque, in summer 1992 which topped charts around the world showing there was still a strong interest in ABBA's music. The genius of Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus' music and words is that its music for the every person, but to acknowledge such romantic dreams and failure turns it into an operatic theater piece of sorts. In 2014, More ABBA Gold was remastered and re-released once again as part of the “40th Anniversary Edition”, which contains Gold, More ABBA Gold, and a bonus disc containing B-sides. More ABBA Gold’s 20 tracks take in the full scope of the band’s diverse catalogue, reaching back to the group’s first album for 1973’s “Ring Ring” and extending into the ‘80s for such latter-day hits as “The Visitors” and “When All Is Said and Done.

imho 'dancing queen' 'fernando' 'chiquitita' and a few othrs boardered on ultra-cheese , although they, like all abba compositions were fantastic pop music. While Gold: Greatest Hits had showcased 19 of the group's biggest and most recognisable hits, this left out a number of other sizeable international hits, such as " Summer Night City", " I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do" and " Angeleyes". The original 1992 release included an edited version of " Voulez-Vous" and the US Promo Edit of " The Name of the Game". Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. The original release included a DVD with 18 of the 19 songs from the CD, excluding "The Name of the Game".The 1992 and 1999 editions released in Australia and New Zealand (and some other territories in that area) had a modified track listing (see below) to include three local hits, replacing three other songs on the international edition.

ABBA won the Eurovision Song Contest 1974 at The Dome in Brighton, UK, giving Sweden its first triumph in the contest. I absolutely LOVE ABBA, and as a kid they were my first 'favourite' group and now rapidly heading towards middle age, I still have phases where I listen to all of their albums, and wonder what kind of music they might have produced if they had stayed together through the 1980s.My faves are 'Knowing Me, Knowing You', 'Voulez Vous', 'One of Us', 'Name of the Game' and 'Lay All Your Love On Me'. In fact, I have several more (about 10 more that are not on Gold, More Gold or the 8 standard albums.
