About this deal
Lawn ants can undoubtedly be a nuisance, and while they rarely kill grass, the mounds that form above their nests are unattractive, and your lawnmower blades are likely to scalp the raised grass, possibly even damaging the roots too. Again though, it can take a while to work and the detergent can bleach the grass, making it paler than the rest of the lawn. The only con of using this product is that you’ll need some learning curve to use the wand and spray bottle. Its strong smell disturbs the pheromones ants use to communicate and find their way to food sources and then back to the nest.
The good news is you don’t need a bucket of nasty chemicals, you can leave the boiling water safely in the kettle, and you don’t need to wait forever for my preferred method to work either.
The best option for this approach would be to use a product like PestXpert Outdoor Perimeter spray; with its 1m metal spray wand, you can probe into the ground and still keep your hand well away from biting ants. As you know, I’d rather avoid the use of chemicals on the lawn, but I will talk you through the options in a moment. But once ants build a nest, they colonise rapidly, so the sooner the treatment is completed, the less damage there will be to the grasses and lawn appearance.
Ant hills left untreated will make your lawn uneven, they can be dispersed by brushing the soil when conditions are dry, this will avoid smearing them on the lawn when mowing.Summer is when we spend the most time outside and ants are certainly not something we want crawling on us when we are trying to enjoy our garden. Unfortunately we are unable to advise exactly what this fee will be as it depends on the local classification of the product and its associated tax classification.
