About this deal

She is in a special school where she lives but she's supposed to go and live with Jack and Grace after she turns eighteen. Grace thought her life would eventually revolve around the care of her younger sister, Millie, who has Down syndrome, and if she could find a man she loved along the way, all the better. in which assessment there is no pejorative value judgment implied - it is a marriage thriller, after all. The book is written in first person, jumping between first-person present and first-person past in alternating chapters.

I fell for the premise of the story as the characters are well drawn and the plot well executed to begin with but about half ways through the story I was finding myself having to suspend belief at some of the actions of the characters and plot line weakened and became repetitive.

B A Paris even seems to think that you can get upgraded to First Class just by giving the check-in staff a hard-luck story. Behind Closed Doors is both unsettling and addictive, as I raced through the pages to find out Grace's fate.

Also, Millie seemed a little too clever for someone with a low IQ—could she have successfully hidden pills, and would she have been able to cook up such a scheme?Set in large grounds at the far end of the village, it gives Jack the privacy he craves, as well as the privilege of owning the most beautiful house in Spring Eaton. Diane and Adam, who have already seen it, can't help going over to have another look, and Rufus joins them, while Esther sits down on one of the cream leather sofas. Booksource: After much of my begging around for this book I finally won a copy on Goodreads first reads. But when I knelt down beside her and found her body cold and rigid, I thought about the terrible death she must have endured.

I can't remember the last time a book made me feel such an all-consuming, visceral hatred for a character. It's the kind of fast-paced, pulpy read that plays with your emotions without ever making you think too hard. Thank you, they look wonderful,' I say gratefully, placing them on the coffee table so that I can open them later, when we serve coffee. Sure enough, with a kiss to the top of my head, he agrees with Diane that I am indeed a superb cook, and I breathe a silent sigh of relief. She says it was because at her birthday party, Millie told everyone her favorite color was yellow, but in other conversations, Jack referred to Millie’s future room as being painted red.

Grace waits in Bangkok for four days, feigning worry when Jack never answers his phone and doesn’t join her.
