About this deal

It’s a good time to re-evaluate if we really need to do that thing, why we’re doing that, and what really gives us value. Not everyone is impressed, but most of his friends agree --- Steve and his horn are indeed exceptional.

Everything is done very professionally with this company and always lets you know every step of the process. Colin: It all started when we read an article from Kidscreen that listed some great books that could be considered for TV adaptations. The story features an endearingly silly horse named Steve who finds a magical golden horn in the forest. We definitely need more books like this which highlight the importance of accepting who you are rather than following what the crowd does. Collier varies her use of typefaces and sizes and adds some comic-book panels, authorial asides, and occasional definitions to the telling.A Horse Named Steve is a hilarious tale, short, sweet and bags of fun, kids will love the chatty notes which explain big words, such as, ‘devastated’ that means, ‘really, really bummed’, and Steve’s outrageous and laugh-out-loud antics. The trailer should give the audience a basic understanding of who the character is, what their world is, and what they’re all about.

Illustrated in lively black-and-white artwork interwoven with humorous commentary, the book and its follow-up, “Team Steve,” follow the exploits of Steve, a good-natured, rather obtuse horse who thinks he’s ordinary but wants to be exceptional. Perfect book for parent's to read out loud and I dare you not to be charmed by Steve and his journey of wanting to be exceptional only to realize that he was in ways that are entirely his own.We asked them if we were too late, but they responded saying no, that we were the first people to get in touch about A Horse Named Steve. Award-winning Belfast-based animation studio Sixteen South and kids’ content leader Nelvana announced an agreement to option, co-develop and co-produce a new 2D animated series, A Horse Named Steve, based on the hugely popular debut picture book by Toronto author-illustrator Kelly Collier. No matter how explicitly the creature denies he is a duck and announces that he is a cat, the duckling refuses to acknowledge the facts.

Toon Boom sets itself appart in the market through a grass roots connection with the global animation market through its ambassadors, social channels, live video content, forums, networks. When this creature expresses complete lack of interest in playing puddle stomp, the little ducking goes off and plays on his own. Belfast-based animation studio Sixteen South is developing a 2D animated series based on popular Canadian kids’ book A Horse Named Steve, written by author-illustrator Kelly Collier. There are single- and double-page spreads, panels surrounded by white space and circular and oval frames, all in a variety of eye-pleasing juxtapositions. In fact, many of his friends are so inspired, they decide to tie items to the tops of their heads as well.Blue explains that “clouds bump and tumble in the sky, / but here inside we’re warm and dry, / and all the thirsty plants below / will get a drink to help them grow! The Steve the Horse series follows the hilarious antics of an endearingly self-absorbed horse and his forest friends as they navigate the ins and outs of friendship, teamwork and ego.

In the sequel, he has to compete in a relay race with a turtle and a snail on his team, and learns the lesson that teamwork is more important than winning. It’s of course still a development project, so we’re still exploring what we can do with Steve’s world. There is a purity and innocence about Steve which is expertly captured in her drawings and is considerably endearing. A sweet and slightly quirky book, Steve the Horse is one of those comical titles whose humor isn't quite in sync with mine - humor is extremely idiosyncratic, I find, and my funny-bone can be hard to locate - but which nevertheless strikes me as entertaining. Dave: You have to believe in what you’re pitching, because as Colin said, you have a finite amount of time to sell it.Collier also incorporates words associated with the five senses to help children engage with Steve’s experiences, albeit in a lively and stimulating way. We reached out, and they responded that the book was on their radar and they would love to option it as well. Many pages include knowing annotations that add to the sense that Collier favours fun over moral messaging. One day, Steve discovers a gold horn in the forest, and immediately recognizes it as the means by which he can truly become what he always believed himself to be: exceptional.
