About this deal

Fly agarics are instantly placed in the Display and temporarily reduce your hand limit by four. They’re in effect for the current turn and the next one. For instance, if you have a Basket in your Display, playing a Fly agaric reduces your hand limit to six for this turn and the next. You must place cards from your hand in the Discard pile to bring your hand down to the new temporary limit. Butter and Cidre are extra cards. You add them to your mushrooms for bonus points when you cook them in the Pan. The goal of Fungi is fairly simple: collect and cook mushrooms. To win? Simply have the most flavour points from the creations you’ve cooked. Manage your hand well, avoid poisonous mushrooms and don’t forget to add a bit of butter and cider to your dish for extra points and you should do well in Fungi. It’s a charming two-player game, although its gameplay shows its age. If you're a fan of card and strategy games, you won't want to miss out on Fungi from Pegasus Spiele, a brilliant two-player game that takes players on a journey through the world of mycology.

You can only do this if you have enough space in your hand for all of the cards in the pile. If there was a basket in the pile and you were one space short you can take it and place the basket in front of you. Players take on the role of mushroom foragers, collecting and trading different species of fungi to create the most valuable collection and cook their mushrooms to create the most delicious meals and earn points. You can’t use anything from the Discard pile. Once it’s gone, it’s gone. Some cards (like Moons) go straight to be discarded, bypassing the Decay pile. Special Cards I’ve chosen to explain the standard “straight-line” setup in this article. I’ll also walk you through the alternative format, which I highly recommend once you know how to play. What’s In the Fungi box?The game is played with the cards being laid out to represent the forest. You'll start by removing two pans and placing one in front of each player and shuffle the rest of the forest cards. These will be the draw pile. Leave some space next to it for a discard pile. Bear in mind that Fly agarics also impact your total hand limit, even if only temporarily. Ending the Game Image From Benjamin Kitchen Fungi is like the essence of an autumn forest: full of warm colours, slightly damp mossy ground and, of course, delicious mushrooms sprouting after a gentle rain. Players are walking through the forest collecting all the edible mushrooms they can find, to cook later over their open fire. This time, put the Decay pile directly between you in the center of the table. Imagine there are spaces for ten cards around the empty pile, in either a rectangle or circle (a rectangle works best).

To win Fungi all you need to have the most flavour points by the time there are no more cards in the forest. As you'll see above the way to do this is by collecting and cooking your mushrooms. Can be slow-paced: Fungi can be a slow-paced game, especially if players are taking their time to make decisions or if there are many players involved.Count up the total number of Flavor points simmering in your Pans. Night cards are worth double (as shown on them). Add on the values of any Butter or Cidre you’ve thrown in, too. Here are a few pros and cons of Fungi to help you have a clearer picture of what this game offers. Pros The two cards from the Forest in front of your feet are “free”. You can take one of them, no questions asked. Don’t forget that the other will automatically move into the Discard pile by the nature of the rules. If you fancy a beautiful and strategic mushroom foraging trip, Pegasus Press’ Fungi may right up your woodland path. In this neat card game two players compete to collect and cook the most rare and delicious mushrooms they can as they move along a pathway of forest cards representing the route they’re strolling through the wood.
