About this deal

The year was 1953. Queen Elizabeth II was crowned in Westminster Abbey, Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tensing became the first people to scale the summit of Mount Everest, women wore full skirted dresses with stiffened petticoats, men favoured three piece suits with fedora hats. Pubs closed at 10pm, cars, televisions, washing machines were all becoming more popular….and the very first ‘Dryboot’ rolled off the production line. The boots are built to last, with many customers expressing satisfaction with their long-term durability, making them a good investment for the price. It’s been more of a challenge because I have hypermobile ankles and knees, and hence I have to insert my recently acquired, specially moulded insoles to my walking footwear. All other footwear was making my feet wet and potentially damaging my very expensive insoles. ( I know the boots will keep my feet dry because I borrowed my husbands size 44’s!!!)

Aggressive behaviour and threats towards our staff will not be tolerated and you will be asked to leave immediately. As a result of pressure from customers old and new, discussions are under way with regard to producing the Dryboot under our own brand name. The Harris Dryboot. Watch this space! As a Dartmoor Guide, I’ve settled on three different types of boots that I use on different days throughout the year: The Harris Dryboot is the ideal work/gardening/walking boot. Whether you are dog walking or fell walking the Harris Dryboot is tough, comfortable and reliable, and great value for money. Harris Dry Boots fit according to usual shoe size. I love these boots! I often get asked about them when I wear them so thought I’d share some info here in case you’re interested. The Harris Dryboots features 100 % waterproof rubber construction with a cotton lining and sturdy laces. Self cleaning, anti-clog soles make them ideal walking boots and suitable for almost any terrain. 'D' Ring lacing and full lining with additional padding to the ankle and along the footbed mean they stay confortable and last well. We have had several customers who report wearing the same pair of Viking Dryboots for 25 years (!) and the new Harris Waterproof boots are made by the same manufacturers using the same materials to the same high standards.

It rained so hard today that I was delighted to put on my Harris Waterproof Dryboots that I bought earlier this year fromThe Dryboot Company If you’d like to gain skills and tips about how to walk safely and enjoyably with confidence in the hills whatever the weather, how about joining us for our Navigation Training for Beginners (or Refresher) morning on Saturday 14th November? Wellies are fine for short walks but don’t support your ankles well on rough terrain. And I’m not a fan of soggy feet in wet hiking boots that need drying out overnight. So, whilst it should have been obvious, it felt like a revelation last Christmas when my uncle mentioned that he’d bought the same kind of rubber boots that his father and my grandfather Eric Hemery, Dartmoor guide, lecturer and author had worn to walk the moor most winters and on rainy days. These brilliant boots are warm, waterproof, and have great ankle support. And they’re great for splashing through puddles!

Autumn is upon us and winter is just around the corner. Time to put the garden to bed and look forward to those long, brisk winter walks - before returning to the log fire and glass of something warming! The Dryboot Company moved home in June, so it has been a very busy year for us. We have inherited a stunning garden with our beautiful 17th century cottage so the Dryboots have been working overtime! A memorable year and the beginning of a long, hugely successful journey for a humble waterproof lace-up boot. Over the past 70 years the Dryboot has survived varying forms of competition from major manufacturers but continues to be one of the UK’s most popular, best value and most reliable waterproof boots for those seeking an alternative to a cumbersome knee length wellington. Some customers have reported issues with the durability of the Dry Boot, claiming that it wears out or develops leaks sooner than expected. The boots are designed to be versatile and can be worn in various settings, making them suitable for both casual and formal occasions. harrisdryboot.com provides a wide range of styles and designs, allowing customers to choose a boot that perfectly suits their personal style and preferences.

On a lighter note we are proud to have been selected as a winner of the 2020 SME UK Enterprise Award - was a busy year for Dryboots and 2018 is already breaking records. Another 1200 pairs are en route to keep up with demand. I can’t tell you how happy I am!!! And, they are the comfiest boots I have ever put on! I will appreciate them every time I put them on (everyday!) thank you again. The Harris Dry Boot from harrisdryboot.com is a premium quality footwear option that offers excellent durability and long-lasting performance. The Dryboot is well proven as one of the best waterproof boots, made for for situations that call for a short, lace-up waterproof boot, rather than a cumbersome knee length welly. A deep, wide gusset provides easy access and removal. The integral steel shank built into the sole gives superior strength for heavy digging or when walking over rough terrain. If you have a disability that may require extra assistance please let us know beforehand so we can accommodate. I have just received and put on my new Harris Dryboots! They are brilliant... beyond brilliant!! Thank you! PLEASE NOTE: This is a gentle reminder that the price rise postponed from January will now take place on 1st March. Almost 5 years since the last increase and a reluctant but necessary step. We find that we are no longer able to absorb annual increases in materials and production costs and hope that our customers will understand. NOVEMBER 2021
