About this deal

Evangeline Fox was raised in her beloved father’s curiosity shop, where she grew up on legends about immortals, like the tragic Prince of Hearts. She knows his powers are mythic, his kiss is worth dying for, and that bargains with him rarely end well. Why. Just why. WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS?? I HAVE DONE NOTHING WRONG AND THEN YOU GIVE ME THIS?? The book’s plot follows no clear structure; it’s all over the place. Sure, there’s a little bit of “action” but that does nothing to redeem a story that is 99% Boring and 1% Interesting Scenes. There were numerous attempts at romantic scenes throughout the book, but Evangeline has no real chemistry with either of her potential love interests (one of them is literally cursed to be in love with her, so there’s that), so it did nothing for me and I skimmed read most of them.

i'm really struggling in the every single way to rate this. on the one hand, it wasn't the worst book i've read, on the other hand, it dragged on quite a bit - it felt like i've been reading this book forever. i was so afraid of falling into a reading slump because of that he called her love one time 😭 and there’s also a "he‘s injured and she helps him" trope with "please stay here tonight" She wanted the pain to end. She wanted to forget his dimpled smile, his brilliant blue eyes, the way he called her Little Fox.” He held her with the type of intensity that only happens when a person wants something that isn't quite theirs.”But let's get a little bit distracted from men in this book and say a couple of words about women. To be honest, I wish there were more female characters I would want to root for or know more about. Evangeline though was very nice and I found I wasn't annoyed by her inner voice as this book is from her POV and more often than not female characters get on my nerves. Evangeline was an easygoing character whose adventure I enjoyed following along with her. I can separate this book into two parts: Before Evangeline Drinks the Poison and After Evangeline Drinks the Poison. I enjoyed the Before part, as After Evangeline Drinks the Poison is where Stephanie Garber seems to have forgotten the novel she promised to readers, and began writing something else entirely. Ergo, the plot had gone haywire. About this book I loved EVERYTHING. The plot, the writing, the characters, the little plot twists, but what I loved more was this fairytale vibe that completely enchanted me. marisol i hate you kys- her act didn't fool me at all she's fake inside & out just like her snake of a mother

It was written in third person (which I usually hate) and in this case it actually worked perfectly to give the nuance the author was going for. For as long as she can remember, Evangeline Fox has believed in true love and happy endings…until she learns that the love of her life will marry another. Am so invested in the story, that ending is going to be in mind for days. Cannot wait for the next book 😩 Every prince gets cursed. A prince without a curse will be forgotten by history, and trust me when I say that Apollo wants to be remembered” tbh she can tell me it was blond right to my face and i would hear “brown” because delusion is not a temporary state of mind, it is the way of life.

Have you already forgotten the way heartbreak rips apart the soul piece by piece, how it turns you into a masochist, making you long for the thing that just eviscerated you until there’s nothing left of you to be destroyed?” i thought the reread would hurt less.. boy was i wrong. this book is going to haunt me for the rest of my life!! Imo the second half of the book is far stronger. The ending was quite good, am looking forward to starting the next book immediately. The story curse was familiar with pain, but this was agony, the sort of raw grief that was only seen once in a century. The fate was every tear that anyone had ever shed for lost love. He was pain given form."

Broken hearts, happily never afters and more curses than you could ever imagine… the ‘Once Upon A Broken Heart’ series by Stephanie Garber is such a magical trilogy, and one we have loved sharing with you over the years. We know this a reprint many of you have been hoping for, and we’re so excited we could make this happen to share our adoration for this series with you all! She’s still as hopeful with her heart despite everything that ensues but somehow wiser in her determination. It made me adore her sm more on a whole new level. Anyway I hope he will have a bigger role in the future. I actually think he and Ev can have a really nice friendship if given the chance.
