At f/2, images are very sharp in the center of the frame and incredibly sharp in extreme full frame corners. Thanks for your input, very valuable. I think my comments are in line with yours but I don't want to 'steal' this thread with more questions so, if you find my questions too intrusive, please, let me know and I'll open a new one (or if any admin considers split this conversation, go ahead). Focus distances are printed on the focus ring (in both ft and m) and a DOF scale covering f/11 and narrower apertures is provided.

Yesterday night I set all the equipment outside to do some (very poor) tests. Many things went wrong, as expected, but that was the goal, find out what's wrong. This includes power and cable management, drew protection, better wifi coverage and test software better (I installed NINA on the field 🙈 🤣). EOSM + 100mmL - This is actually a candid shot. My friends were coming out prospecting with me and I took this picture just as they were deciding where to dig. Now, I have to admit that up to this point, it sounds a little too good to be true. The downsides of this configuration are that shooting wide open can make focusing difficult. With its focal length and wide max aperture, this lens, as mentioned in the beginning of the review, is one of the highest bokeh per dollar lenses available.

It is also made of plastic and it has worked fine for me, but I'm not yet ready to give that ring the "quality" qualifier.

Angle of view: 18.8 degrees (full frame sensor), 12.4 degrees (APS-C sensor), 9.5 degrees (Micro 4/3A good stress test for bright tele lenses is to point the lens wide open directly into some branches in a high contrast situation. Usually, the lens shows some amount of lateral and longitudinal chromatic aberrations in that case. Look at what happens with the Samyang 2/135 in that situation (100%-crop of the extreme corner!!): So let’s take a look at close-up sharpness. I can’t see any significant difference between f/2.0 and f/5.6, maybe f/2.0 is even a tad sharper but this is not worth noting when it comes to performance in the field. You only stop this lens down when you need the depth of field, not to gain sharpness. The excellent close up performance hints that this lens could be turned into a great macro lens when using extension tubes. Even without them, the good maximum reproduction ratio of 1:4 lets you get pretty close to the subject. While some versions of this lens include a focus confirmation chip, I do not find DSLR focus confirmation lights to be accurate enough to count on for manual focusing. c) And this is something I really care about – the Samyang has good flare resistance, but the Apo Sonnar was noticeably better at keeping up contrast in difficult light.
