About this deal

This is what I could find on the app, may have missed the odd wargear change but I tried to catch everything. No points increases at all that I can see. Huge, diverse range. Space Marines have an answer to basically any question, and usually several. If you find yourself struggling against a particular opponent or army, you can probably find something in the book to help.

Deathwatch Veterans, 4 Frag Cannon, 4 Deathwatch Thunder Hammer, 2 Astartes Shield, Xenophase Blade, Long Vigil Melee Weapon Is killing vehicles a struggle? Sure. Is it a little complicated to sequence? Also yes. Is it worth it? Absolutely. Sample List

Librarian: The Librarian is the resilience option of the above, providing a 4+ Invulnerable save instead of free Stratagem Usage. Depending on the unit’s role in the list, this can be just as powerful and adds a lot of staying power when taking objectives. Beacon Angelis is just as good here as it is with the Captain.

On the topic of surprises, we already know that the Orks and Adepta Sororitas codexes are on their way, but what about the next two? Aggressor • Desolation Squad • Eradicator • Hellblaster • Vanguard Eliminator • Vanguard Suppressor • Infernus Squad • Firestrike Servo-turret • Hammerfall BunkerWhen you select a PSYKER unit to manifest psychic powers, you select one psychic power that unit knows and attempt to manifest it. With the exception of Smite, you cannot attempt to manifest the same psychic power more than once in the same battle round, even with different PSYKER units. The same PSYKER unit cannot attempt to manifest Smite more than once during the same battle round. Primarch’s Wrath: A powered-up boltgun at Rapid Fire 2, S5 AP-2 D2. Has always been fine. Is still fine. Lots of things in this section are fine, but with like 40 choices this isn’t the one you’re leaning on. C Aggressor Squad • Desolation Squad • Devastator Squad • Hellblaster Squad • Eradicator Squad • Eliminator Squad • Infernus Squad • Centurion Devastator Squad Primaris Apothecary ( Helix Adept • Apothecary Biologis) • Primaris Librarian • Vanguard Librarian • Primaris Chaplain ( Judiciar) • Primaris Techmarine

As the warring armies close upon one another and vicious firefights erupt, the Codex lays out strategies for swiftly seizing the initiative and combining versatility with firepower. While this combat doctrine is active, improve the Armour Penetration characteristic of every Rapid Fire and Assault weapon that models in this unit are equipped with by 1.The Imperium’s Sword: Re-roll charges, and get +1S/A when you charge or make a Heroic Intervention. A fantastic trait – the Strength thing is mildly less relevant now because of how weapon modifiers work in 9th, but it’s still very good. A The new weapon is a macro plasma incinerator, shooting a D6 Strength 8 shots with Damage 2 and Blast, expressly designed to destroy squads of heavy infantry. Since this plasma weapon is mounted on a vehicle, unmodified rolls of ‘1’ only deal a mortal wound instead of destroying the model. Shooting the macro plasma incinerator may be a valid choice for the increased Strength and Damage. Just keep your mighty Techmarine close to buff that right out. Kill Teams and how to abuse them: Almost all the best units for dealing damage in the Deathwatch Faction share the Kill Team keyword, which allows them to double up on stratagem usage. From the baseline Deathwatch Veterans squad to the monstrous Proteus and Indomitor Kill Teams, there’s something here for every role. Interested in hunting some tanks or knights? Replace the plasma with a heavy laser destroyer. It reaches out to 72 inches with a 12 Strength and an equally impressive D3+3 Damage. Did I mention it gets two shots? Standard of the Emperor Ascendant: +3″ to the Astartes Banner ability for an Ancient, and re-roll Morale for CORE within that range. A neat replacement for the old ATSKNF effect, but nothing to write home about. C+

We’re not rating these for obvious reasons – you want to use them if you want more relics or traits on your list and if you don’t then they’re irrelevant. Marines have good traits and relics in abundance so it would be surprising if you never wanted to, but it all depends on what your list is doing. Strategic Ploy Stratagems This is a whole new section for 9th edition, and there’s lots going on here. Chapter Command represents the top-ranking officers in the Space Marine army, the highest respective person in their role, such as the Chapter Master or Chief Apothecary. These are upgrades to existing units that you’d take, making them more powerful and giving them access to new warlord traits and relics. Rules for these were first introduced in Faith and Fury for 8th, but they’ve been changed significantly here from that first iteration. The biggest change is that the upgrades for your chapter leaders are now paid for with regular-old army building points rather than by using stratagems for CP. They all return here, plus there’s a new section for Chapter Masters to come into their own, with some light restrictions – Deathwatch can’t take Chapter Masters and Blood Angels can’t take Chapter Ancients, since those already exist in different forms in their individual supplements. To manifest the psychic power, you must first pass a Psychic test. The opposing player can then select one of their PSYKER units that is within 24" of the PSYKER unit attempting to manifest the power and attempt to deny that power before its effects are resolved by passing a Deny the Witch test. Suppression Fire – 1CP –Use in your Shooting phase when firing a Whirlwind. Until the end of the phase, if you hit with a weapon with Blast, then until the start of your next turn the target cannot fire Overwatch or Set to Defend, and cannot fight until all eligible units from your army have done so. Cute although less essential than it might have been since Overwatch is less of a thing, and the ‘fight last’ effect is less good than the Judiciar one since you can use Counter-offensive to break out of it. Also you have to take a Whirlwind and those are ok at best now. B

2:50 pm – Forge World Updates

As you’ll see in the Munitorum Field Manual MkII, the Thousand Sons are also getting a new HQ choice called an Infernal Master. Sounds ominous, right? We’ll have more on this mysterious new addition to the sons of Magnus nearer to their codex’s release, so keep a third eye out for them on Warhammer Community. But the important thing is, the Thousand Sons and Grey Knights are indeed both getting a new codex in the coming months! In fact, you can take a look at their stunning covers right here. One of the above and Master Artisans, switching out a little of the melee power to bring in some re-roll reliability.
