What I didn't love: when she left before completing treatment at the mental health facility. I worried about this because I don't want people thinking it's okay to leave and not complete treatment. I DO like that you continued to let her character mess up, because that showed she made decisions that only someone who hadn't completed treatment would make. Still, I hope people know that completing treatment is best and not to try to "fix yourself" without the help of others. Best: The story is excellent. This author creates very believable characters. After reading (listening to) this story (forcibly Suggested by a friend) I have come to realize that I am indeed Dolores Price - born a few years later - but also Molested and traumatized on several levels. I am currently in my FAT Phase - and Im motivated - and I found as I was Cheering for Delores to allow herself happiness - I realized I TOO was denying myself happiness. Her voice has many levels and I kept thinking that toni collette was reading - but at times she sounds much older and others she seems younger??? a great story teller voice!!!

In conclusion, summarize your reading experience with She's Come Undone. What grade would you give this novel? It was something that Warren and I started writing alongside some other stuff that we’d been playing around with, and Simon came in and heard what we were doing. Many reviewers panned this book, exclaiming that a male author could not possibly capture the true perspective and essence of an adolescent girl coming of age, maturing into a middle aged women, enduring parental divorce and infidelity, rape, harassment and bullying, her own painful marriage and divorce, death of very close loved ones and in the end finding true happiness in life in her own way. That may be true. I cannot say. But for me the book was a huge winner because my heart completely overflowed with intense empathy for Delores Price. Empathy is gender neutral. If an author can make me feel such intense empathy and compassion for a character, that author did an outstanding job regardless of their gender! This is a 5-STAR effort in my view.

The structure of She's Come Undone keeps the reader engaged throughout, as each chapter reveals new aspects of Dolores’ life.
