About this deal

Before they become fully fledged Battle Sisters, aspirants must prove their piety on the front lines. Known as Novitiates, they are usually deployed as kill teams with an experienced Sister Superior directing their youthful zealotry.

If you’re playing Sisters, you always need an Eviscerator in the army, even if you’re playing a stealth mission! Acts of Faith The Pathfinder kill team performs better when its operatives are working together for the Greater Good, and so a lot of the tips for the Veteran Guardsman kill team will also apply here. Pathfinders are still T’au though, with a very strong preference for ranged warfare, so here are some ways you can ensure they always fight on their terms. The Marksman Pathfinder gives you an additional rail rifle; they come with a special Marksman Rail Rifle that hits on a 3+ and can either fire the standard rounds or Dart Rounds, which trade Lethal 5+ for Silent, turning them into deadly snipers. Their Inertial Dampener ability lets them make Overwatch shots at full BS. The grand, gothic architecture of the Imperium wouldn’t be complete without massive arched doorways, and now your elite, highly trained operatives have figured out how to operate the handles. They can also make use of hatches in the floors and ceilings to climb up and down buildings without being seen by the enemy. So, not only is the Kill Team Compendium expensive, but it is also bereft of unique rules for a huge number of models. These unique rules for your models look as if they are going to be included in the Rules Manuals that come with each Kill Team expansion box. So, you’re going to have to spend even more money to get all the info you need for your faction.

The one thing that really threw me, though, was that you are required to actually break off several parts of moulded scenery. You’ll see this warning in the build guide: As long as your leader is still on the field, during the strategic phase you can call for an Art of War when you would use a strategic ploy. Generally, EMP grenades become profitable if you can hit targets with 4+ saves. Otherwise I’d rather fusion grenade someone and guarantee a valuable trade. This operative is often the subject of a turn 1 investment of Mont’ka and Recon Sweep to slingshot him ⬟ (normal move) + ■ (Recon Sweep dash) ■ (Recon Scout dash)+ ■ (Mont’ka dash) for a total of 15″ movement before lobbing a grenade another ⬟ (6″) for an impressive 21″ threat range out the gate, albeit with the caveat that your Recon Sweep dash requires you start and end that particular dash within 6″ of a killzone edge. With six different options, you’ll have plenty of options depending on the mission. Army Wide Rules CAVE: The recommendation for this model as with the others is to start by building the body (torso+legs) and glue the body down on the base. Make sure you get the angle of the torso right before glueing down, since if you get the wrong angle, you won’t be able to glue the left arm on and get a good connection. I recommend applying the left arm to the torso with some PataFix or similar and test in which angle you can glue the torso on the legs. If you’re using the part A8 for the legs as I did, you might wanna file down the feet and ensure it’s properly flat to get most of the surface to connect to the base. Let that dry for a couple of minutes before you continue assembly. You can also apply the pouch to his trousers before you glue the body down to the base, you can also do it afterwards – as you prefer. I found it relatively easy to find a good position for the pouch, but I still always recommend dry-fitting before gluing down. Compared to the last Kill Team expansion, so far Chalnath feels like a big step in the right direction – even if it is more expensive. The box feels bigger, heavier, and more exciting. There’s a pleasing absence of horrible little bits of boring cuboid scenery, and instead there’s a pile of detailed battlescape to make your games with this kit all the more immersive.GW do a couple of bundles to help you out, but they aren’t cheap. There’s the Rules Collection, which has the Core Book, the Compendium, and the Tactical Ops cards you need. There’s also the Essentials Collection, which has everything the Rules Collection has as well as some tokens, some gauges, and a few bits of scenery.

I mean, when it’s all finished it’s a seriously impressive collection of scenery. This is the kind of stuff that’ll find a home on armies on parade boards across the world this time next year. But, and there is, unfortunately, a big but, it is a real pain to put together. Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team: Chalnath Review – Price and Availability CAVE: Care not to glue down the Burst Cannon and care to firstly insert the Burst Cannon between parts A73 and A74 before gluing them together. Build the drone top and body separately and let everything dry a bit before connecting the drone top and body. As a flight stand I used the smallest stand to bring the drone height in line with those of my other drones. These operatives are especially frightening at the controls of a Recon Drone, whose burst cannon can reap a bloody toll against enemy kill teams. Frankly, you want to be shooting with it as often as you possibly can. The aforementioned Movement rules allow you to push flanks and open up new lines of fire across the killzone. As a big fan of the Adepta Sororitas and a former T’au Empire collector, I am absolutely psyched to get into the good stuff in this box. T’au Pathfinder Squad A bit of a short section this time around as there’s only one bit of kit in the Chalnath box that’s designed to get you up and playing, and that’s the double-sided game board.
