This is a fantastic first amp for a beginner. The ability to easily connect the amp to your PC/Mac via USB sets this amp above other budget range amps. Having a wide range of modelled amps, effects and presets gives you plenty of flexibility. The only time you will outgrow this amp is when you need something louder or you move to styles that require more gain for styles such as metal. The quality of the effects and the Fender style modelled amps are excellent and suit players interested in that type of tone. As you’ve seen, this amp requires a bit of experimentation and effort from your part to get most of it.

Use the Fender FUSE software. Learn to use the software to tweak your sound and learn how each effect changes your overall tone. Here’s the general process to follow to achieve a good tone: The main cabinet is made out of plywood, which is much better than MDF. Grill-cloth is made out of the standard fabric Fender uses for all its Silverface amps. The classic chrome Fender-logo is proudly presented on the face. There is a Mustang logo on the top of the face, right where the logo on a Tweed amp would be. Without doubt, the main attribute of this Fender combo is the authentic sounding amp modelling on board. It has a USB port for using the Fender Fuse software and even recording. The amp also comes with a demo version of Ableton 10 Live to get you started recording your own demos.

Some customers might find the complexity of modeling amps a hassle. If this is you, then maybe you’re looking for another kind of ease-to-use and budget-friendly Fender amp.

This is a no-brainer. Boss is the daddy when it comes to pedal-based effects, and putting them all in a cheap combo was a master stroke. As I said before, you can save 24 individual presets, which will most likely be more than enough. The amp has a dead simple layout: gain, volume, treble, bass, and a master volume. There are also knobs for preset navigation, modulation, and delay/reverb. The amp also comes with a built-in tuner, which is accessed by holding down on the ‘tap’ button. With the Fender Fuse software, you can also put any preset on any slot regardless of what amp name is next to it on the amp. So it’s completely possible to fill the entire amp with just ’65 Princeton Reverb presets if you wanted to. Keep in mind you can only access the stompbox effects via the FUSE software. Perfect for guitarists who play a wide variety of genres, the amp can go from crunchy overdrive to heavily distorted with ease.If you don’tplan on using the Fender FUSE software, this amp is nota great choice. You won’t have as many effects to play around with and you will have trouble tweaking your tone to your liking. If you do not plan to connect your amp to your PC/Mac, I don’t recommend this amp.
