This is done well on a writing level and with its attempt to connect with readers concluding “Taste” on a positive note. The whole book toes this line, and those who don’t come to it with prior affection for the author may wind up not liking him very much. Apparently his Italian American family was better off than mine as my parents didn’t see Italy until mid 70’s and they certainly never lived there!

You did get me at the mention of Italian food and travelling around Italy so I may be enticed to read this book in particular. Truly a personal look at how the joy of food has shaped every main memory, Tucci narrating his memoir only elevates the experience more as my mouth watered and my stomach growled in envy throughout!One was sure that new life forms were breeding from the spores that danced on every surface and consequently one’s nostrils and lungs after the first inhale.

We weren’t aware of this book but most definitely want to read it – it’s great that he includes recipes as well. I, however, was only given money (five to ten cents) solely for the purchase of a half pint of milk. The tone of his book is light and, for an American actor, moderately ironic (I should know; I’ve interviewed enough of them). Written with Stanley’s signature wry humor, Taste is for fans of Bill Buford, Gabrielle Hamilton, and Ruth Reichl—and anyone who knows the power of a home-cooked meal.One by one, fill the bottles (with a ladle, via funnel) with the tomato juice and add a pinch of salt and a basil leaf to each. So a visit to Iceland to escape the gloom of what is known in London as “winter” was an exciting prospect.
