You would say that.” He almost laughs. “But being kind does not come naturally to me, love. You’ll have to be patient with my progress.”

Chris and Mal’s relationship and their love MY GOD. They really did something for me and their story was such a journey. It was painful and heartbreaking yet devastating beautiful. You just don’t understand how perfect they were and then… we aren’t even gonna talk about this.I went into this book scared cause I saw a lot of the ARC readers reactions. And I was right to be scared cause my heart still hurts. The little bits of Eric and especially seeing how happy he made Sloane hurt me so much and I wasn’t expecting it. Also, Dominic… my mannnn was really going through it. Like that man was miserable YEAR AFTER YEAR AFTER YEAR and it only makes Restore Me matter to me more. Also, it’s worth noting that after 12 years of Dominic treating Sloane like garbage, she never once stopped and asked “hey, what’s your problem with me?” We are adults, people. Ever heard of communication? The psychopath in question winks at me from where he’s standing, smiling like he couldn’t possibly be holding a gun to the head of our mutual friend. I manage to suppress a laugh. I found myself more invested in Chris’s storyline and him founding out the truth about his mom’s death to be a *tad more interesting than his moments with Mallory. Of course, there is moving dialogue and searing intimate moments between the two of them, but seeing how the author has added even more depth to Christopher stole the show for me. I actually may be in the minority with this, but I am not angry at Chris for the decision he made at the end of this book. Each decision he has made in regards to Mallory and his own life had good intention behind it, but it’s important to realize that many of his choices were also fueled by misplaced guilt he feels. If Chris fails to get a handle on this, it will continue to affect how he navigates his life. Sometimes you have to say goodbye to make room for something better.

I did not think it would be easy to be a leader, exactly, but I do think I thought it would be easier than this: It’s been just over two weeks since he was killed, shot twice in the forehead by someone I love. She was doing me a kindness by killing him. She was braver than I’d ever been, pulling the trigger when I never could. He was a monster. He deserved worse. I’m sorry—what?” I take my hand off my gun; feel my body unclench. “Kenji, what are you talking about? This isn’t about the war?”

Restore Me

It was supposed to be a simple business arrangement, a few months of playing a role that came far too easily to the both of us, but it wasn’t long before it became more. Old habits, Castle,” I said quietly. “Bad habits. You’re right, of course. Of course you’re right.” Because wanting you is the only thing that’s gotten me through living without you. It’s gotten me to this moment right here, where I can look you in the eyes and tell you that I love you and I can’t live without you."

if i was basing this rating solely off chris and mal’s romance it would sit at a 4.3-4.5. i enjoyed them as i always do but to be completely honest i’m ready for their happy ending. i understand the importance of their relationship in this season in both of their lives, but there are moments in the story where i am FEENING for their ending. where they can stop dwelling on their past and fall into each other without their past restraints. we don’t get that in this book and we won’t get that for six more (book) years. that’s the not-so-good news. the great news is that that isn’t what i’m only basing the rating on. Chris is an anomaly. A departure from all the meager expectations I had for my life. He made me want more. More goodness. More adventure. More passion and fearlessness. More love. After one drunken night, and a surprisingly sexy act of heroism, he's started to be...nice. Treating me like something other than the physical embodiment of his annoyance, which would be nice if it didn't make me feel all the things I swore to never feel for another man after my husband died. He's spent more than a decade annoying the life out of me, and I know from experience that knowing how to push someone's buttons comes with the ability to see right through them. To read their minds through facial expressions and body language alone. Restore Me is a new favorite of the year. I had a feeling this book was going to be amazing after some friends raved about it, and of course it was! If you love Kennedy Ryan’s writing, this author will really work for you. I cannot wait to read more from this author.

Before bedtime: Many people find that reading before bedtime helps them unwind and relax, which can promote better sleep.
